Looking for the marriage of John Figgins b c1792 in Portsea, to a Lucy (Somebody) b c1796 in Portsea, and the baptism of both.

Also looking for the baptism of a John Figgins b c1813, in Portsea. He was the son of the above John Figgins, both of whom were Wheelwrights.

Distance and a busy job precludes me from travelling to Hampshire at the moment, so would be most grateful for any help or suggestions.

Have you tried the transcriptions on the knightroots web-site?

Hi - Thank you both for responding so helpfully and quickly.

Geoffers,
Thanks for the link, but I have tried that to no avail. It's a good site though.

Annie,
The problem with the Figgins is that there was another family (Peter Figgins)
I have the m cert for John Figgins who I now believe was born about 1817, and his father is shown as John Figgins. The census for 1841 & 1851 has John & Lucy. I think I will have another look for a John & Mary.
Are the details in family search.org for the Johns 1813 & 1816?

Regards
Arthur

Hi Annie, I cannot find a John Figgins married to a Mary in the census returns. I therefore believe Lucy and Mary are the same person, I suppose it is likely that whoever gave the info to the enumerator for the census returns used Lucy in 1841 and 1851 even if it was a nickname - a bit like me as everyone calls me Joe but my real name is Arthur! I cetainly have John & Lucy in 1841 with a son John age 25, and both Wheelwrights, living in Fratton which also appears on the son John's m cert.
I think my quest is to find the m cert for John & Lucy(Mary) before 1816, probably in Portsea.
Any thoughts Annie?

Hi Arthur
The baptisms of 1813 and 1816 are both on the familysearch site
for baptisms in St Mary's Portsea the batch number is; C062613 covering the years 1805-1822
for marriages the number is; M062613 covering the years 1816-1855
There is a marriage of John Figgins to a Mary Ann Mitchell in Droxford 1804, far too early to be the one you are looking for though.
