I'm a big fan of the Crimean war and would love to know if anyone has an army list or access to any sites which would provide information on names of soliders who may have fought in this war. Family name is Vallerine.

I'm also after anyone who knows anything about John Vallerine, a decendent of mine who was discharged during WW1 with consumption of which he died in 1922.

Any help would be fantasic.

Also as a newcomer to this site and having just seen a thread for Charge of the Light Brigade, I used to work with a chap called Brudenell who was related to the Earl of Cardigan ... useless info but there you go. Also if you want to read a good book on the Charge HELL RIDERS is fantastic !

Hi Vallers,

All I have to offer is an online casualty list for the Crimean War. I had a great great uncle who fought in the Crimean War with the Coldstream Guards. He was awarded a DCM for his actions at the Battle of Inkerman.

You might try TNA at Kew, have a browse of their research guides on the British Army to see what is available

Good grief, a descendent of yours?! That must mean you were born in the 19th century, just shows that it's never too late to take up family history :) (sorry, I have a poor sense of humour)
