As a long shot I'll throw this post in!
I have hit a brick wall with Emil Bakke born in Christiania, Norway. In 1900 he married Alice Lena Malone in Sydney, he was according to marriage certificate a 'Sailor' & aged 25. Emil's father is listed as Emil & an engineer, his mother is listed as Mina Edwards.
To date I have searched all Australian records with no luck, ditto for ships/crew lists. The only records I can find is the marriage cert & divorce papers which suggests he was in Sydney from 1897 to at least 1909. There is no death record in Australia either.
This guy was my great grandfather & fable (or otherwise) has it that Bakke went on to become a ship/s owner, there was a Bakke shipping line but I don't think there is a connection there. The divorce papers of 1909 suggest my Bakke was of 'undesireable character'
