Hi , I'm new to the forum and the names I am researching are Newbegin (tobacco manufacturers in the 1800s) Warne (Professors of music - btw, does that mean music teachers or professors at an institution?) Gunning (stationers) Swann, Proctor, Davison.
Thanks
Delli

Hi Delli,
Welcome to the forum.
Did you post your message because you hope that someone is researching the same names, or are you looking for actual information about people because you've hit a brickwall?
For the first instance, have a look at
http://uk.geocities.com/davidbooty@btinternet.com/NorfolkSurnames/Index.html
For the second, we need to know a little more information. For example, it is a total waste of time for someone to look for references on the 1871 census if what you really want to know is the maiden name of Wilhelmina Newbegin :)
So you need to say something like 'I've found Fred and Wilhelmina Newbegin on the 1901 census living in Attleborough, ref RG13/ 9899 folio 876 page 345, but I can't find a marriage for them. I've searched on FreeBMD'.
Not everyone has access to the census so you could perhaps add 'their eldest child Philomena is aged 6 on the census'.
The more detail you give us, the more likely we are to be able to help.
Pam

Thanks Pam,
I was really just fishing to see if anyone else was researching similar names at this stage but i'll certainly add more detail as I become familiar with the way it's all done. After posting yesterday I read through previous listings and realised that i need to be more specific. It seems to be a very good forum with very helpful members.
Thanks for the tip, i look forward to becoming a part of it all.
