Family information has it that William was a fishmonger and twice Mayor of Carmarthen
From my own research I believe William was born about 1859 to John and Mary Evans who were fishmongers at (or they lived at) 13 Queen Street Carmarthen from at least 1861-1901 (Mary took over when John died bet 1861/71, William took over by 1891.
William was single (until 1901 at least) and living with his sister Ann (1891/1901 censuses) - family history has it that there was a spinster sister called Eleanor/Elinor - I am wondering if this is Ann.
I am trying to tie William Evans to Rebecca Evans who married David Davies 1836-1903. Family history has them as brother and sister - but I think they must have been aunt and nephew.
Any help confirming my research or even better anyone who knows of William Evans during his time as mayor would be appreciated.
