Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had access to information about convicts sent to Tasmania Australia?
I have an ancestor who I believe may be a convict to Tasmania around 1833. Her name is Sarah Mosely. She was born around 1810-1815 in London.
I was able to find this report on the Old Bailey website:
SARAH MOSELY, theft : simple grand larceny, 18th October, 1832.
The Proceedings of the Old Bailey Ref: t18321018-199

Trial Summary:
* Crime(s): theft : simple grand larceny,
* Punishment Type: transportation,
(Punishment details may be provided at the end of the trial.)
* Verdict: Guilty: pleaded guilty,
* Other trials on 18 Oct 1832
* Name search for: SARAH MOSELY,
* Associated Records...
Original Text:
2406. SARAH MOSELY was indicted for stealing, on the 1st of October, 6 shirts, value 1l. 10s., and 1 pinafore, value 4d. , the goods of James Neat ; and that she had before been convicted of felony. - To which she pleaded
GUILTY . Aged 20. - Transported for Seven Years .
Not 100% sure this is my Sarah, but definitely possible.
Is anyone able to find out more about this prisoner? What ship she was transported on, and where to? etc.
I would be very grateful for any help.
