Would be obliged for some help in decyphering a section of a Will, of Sarah Dietz, the second wife of my ggg grandfather Balthasar Dietz.
I have uploaded it to: http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~worsfold/
for those incline to have a look. The file is called Will Section.
What I cant understand is the relationship to the person named on the fifth line.
it seems to me to say ......to my mort grantor Ann the wife of David Clark.....
but "mort Grantor " what could that be ?
Any suggestions ?
Cheers..Ed

Going out, in a rush so haven't read the rest, but
"mort Grantor" = "niece Frances"

How about " ... my niece Frances Anne ..."? Although I'm not sure about the Anne, could be Grace or ?
niece
n as in and, same line
c as in discharge, line 3
e as in bequeath, same line
Frances
r as in Green, next line
n as in and, same line
c as in discharge, line 3
Added: Myth beat me to it while I was puzzling over the image

Thank you gentlemen.
now that you say it- of course I can see it :-)
now then, what about the surname of David ? "Clart" ??
Have looked at the 1871 census for Hare Street, but cant find this family
But then I was looking for David and Ann rather than David and Francis.
Back to the CDs.

My reading is David Clare, see Street or Green in the same line. I'm not convinced that it's Hare Street though; I would want to see another example of an H.

Paint Shop Pro, a graphics program; it's their proprietary format.

I agree with Colin on the name, I reckon we're looking for David Clare.
I'm happy with Hare Street though - see Herring Smoker on same line.
Linda - you have IrfanView. I don't know what else you have, but if it doesn't just open automatically with something else when you click on it, you can use that - I did. :)

I hadn't been able to work that one out.

I was at work you see |blush| , and I don't have Irfanview on my computer at the office. I just clicked on the file now and sure enough it opens in Irfanview. Thanks Myth. I'll go and have a read now. :)

And of course I have to agree with the experts ;) - "niece Frances Clare the wife of David Clare"
I would have had to look at it for a bit longer to work out "Herring" though, but since Myth already worked it out, it is now obvious :D

Many thanks to all those who had a go at this little conundrum.
I had worked out the Herring smoker for myself -brag-brag.
One of the few useful occupations I have found in my lot. Sadly seems now to be defunct- smoked fish in these parts are merely painted in my view.
