I'm trying to trace the descendants of Ann REED [1824-1881] and Donald McKAY [died 1880].
Ann and Donald were married in Farr, Sutherland in 1843 but were living in Thurso by the time their first child was born in 1844. I have not been able to trace Donald's background or find out what happened to any of their children who were as follows:
-- William McKAY b. 1844
-- Diana McKAY b. 1847
-- Isabella McKAY b. 1849
-- Mary Anne McKAY b. 1850
-- Ralph John McKAY b. 1854
-- Isabella McKAY b. 1855 [since this is the 2nd Isabella, the 1st probably died at a young age]
-- Katherine Houston McKAY b.1857
-- Dorothea Reid McKAY b. 1860
-- Marion McKAY b. 1863
-- Donaldine McKAY b. 1864
-- Annie McKAY b. 1867
I believe Donald was a sheepfarmer for at least part of his adult life and he may have managed Baillie Farm for his father-in-law, Ralph REED. Baillie Farm was located just outside Thurso.
Can anyone help with these names or do census look ups for me?
