Birth Cert advice

I am wondering if it is worthwhile buying a UK birth certificate of a daughter born to an ancestor of mine that I am finding it extremely difficult locating a clear birthplace for. Australian birth cert's all list the birthplace of parents, do UK birth cert's do the same? The baby was born in 1846 in Portsea, Hampshire.

Hi Tambo
Afraid birth certificates in England and Wales only show the place where the child was born. Some I have from that time period only state the town as place of residence.
