Hi, I'm new and writing from Brooklyn, New York, USA. My great grandmother was Constance Mary Hazel, born 1881 in Stalham, Norfolk, England. Her parents were Richard Hazel, born 1859 in Barton Turf and Harriet Mary Ann Harmer born in Tunstead. Richard's parents were Charles Hazel, born 1829 in Barton Turf and Mary Cutting born 1831 in Smallburgh. anyone out there with ties to these families. I would love to find some living relatives, however distant we are.

part 2.....

So it looks like Richard Harmer was married twice. To confirm that this is the right chap, you will need to get Harriet's marriage certificate. freebmd http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl indicates a likely marriage recorded
Dec 1879, Smallburgh, vol 4b, page 135 as there are entries under this reference for both Richard HAZLE and Harriett M A Harmer.

Coming forward in time, the 1901 census http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ seems to show some Harmer family in Stalham. Just using the index, there are references to Amelia aged 76, Henry aged 40, Rosetta aged 38, Henry aged 17, Helena aged 17, Samuel aged 15, Richard aged 11, Rosetta aged 3. This might be one family.

part 3.....

Going then to the CWGC http://www.cwgc.org/
shows a H F (his full name was Henry Frederick) Harmer died 8th June 1917, the son of Rosetta Harmer of Stalham - probably indicating that Rosetta's husband had died by then.

These small steps hopefully show how you can make some progress.
