A great aunt of mine had a middle name of Corona. She was born on 1st June 1911 in Wallasey. This unusual name was supposed to be after a ship that was launched on the day she was born. I am having trouble finding a ship of this name and am hoping that someone reading this can prove this. When I google corona all I get is something about star formations....... Expert help required please!!!!!

I hope your great-aunt had better luck than this ship! http://museum.gov.ns.ca/mma/wrecks/wrecks/shipwrecks.asp?ID=1044

didn't expect an answer so quick. Is it really a wreck and not a launch? Family stories again, eh!!!! My great aunt lived to 85. Many thanks again.

You might try the historic photograph collection at the National Maritime Museum. The catalogue is online and searchable at their web-site
http://www.nmm.ac.uk/
It might throw up some ship from this date.
