I was looking for a forum for Renfrewshire, but didn’t find any. I would appreciate any help I can get in finding my ancestor in the 1861 or 1871 census.

My great-great-grandfather Peter Maughan (or Moughan or Moughon) was supposedly born in Ireland, but two of his older children were born in Liverpool before he went to the United States about 1870 or 1871. His wife Amelia Home (spelled as we thought) was Scottish, and it looks as if this may be the couple (with different spellings) who married in Port Glasgow, as we have found in the Internet (see further below).

The marriage date is just right for the oldest daughter Margaret to have been born in June, 1861. The same source shows a daughter Ann born to this couple in Port Glasgow in 1865.

Does someone with access to the census have time to look for Peter and Amelia in 1861 or 1871? I would be grateful for some help.
