Apologies if this information has been previously posted. I have just discovered a website (through a link from my ex-company website) which may prove useful to anyone looking for photos of older ships. I've only had a quick glance through and not sure how many really old ships are on there but there does seem to be some that go back to the beginning of the 20th Century.
The link is http://www.solentwaters.co.uk/
Once you are on the home page there are any number of links to other marine sites but one is 'Old Ship Picture Gallery' and may be useful.
With regard to the other links on the home page, one which is quite unnerving to watch is in the video section entitled 'ship hitting bridge'. Having spent 39 years in the MN I cannot understand how anyone could let that happen and then there appears to be only one person running around the deck after the ship catches fire. Perhaps therein lies the answer - undermanned and not keeping proper lookout.
