Anyone heard of this?

My great uncle was secured the Carnegie award in 1927 whilst serving as a quarter master on on Orient Line ship for saving a man who had fallen overboard.

Would like to know how to find further details.

Many thanks.

Have you tried searching on Google ?

There seem to be many awards with the same name, all given for different reasons.

These are the closest to yours.

There were at least 9 more pages of hits I didn't look at.

The sites I hit were for Book awards!

Yes, there were those when I Googled too.

Try the second one on my page

http://www.carnegiehero.org/

and click on <Search Awardees> across the top. You don't give the G Uncles name, so I can't see if he is there.

and click on <Search Awardees> across the top.

I have now tried this without sucess, but after reading the sites home page I realised there is a carnegie hero association in Scotland. I have been in touch with them via e-mail and they advised me to write to them with the little imformation that I have, then they will search their archives. So with fingers crossed he may turn up there.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply

Regards
