Hi Lynne
I saw your post and was interested to see you have a connection to a Salisbury family from Suffolk? may l ask what area? l have traced my Salisbury line back to the late 16th century and most of my lot were from the Barrow, Whepstead, Great Barton, Fornham St Martin and Bury St Edmunds area, if you think there could be a connection l would love to hear from you.
Kind Regards
Robert Salisbury

Hello,
We are related maritally to the Sheldrake family of Coddenham through Lydia Sheldrake (your Samuel's brother). We have his children listed as Charlotte, Lucy, Herbert, Henry, Maria, George and Ellenor Elizabeth Sheldrake. We also have a possible brother William. We didn't realise that there was also an Edward. Do you have any more information about this family? We have birth and baptism dates for most of the children and know that Samuel was married to Sarah Smith on 12 Oct 1847. We would be keen to hear from you if you have any extra information.
Kind regards, Jessica

Hi Jessica
In the 1841 census John Sheldrake, 55, Lydia Sheldrake 50 & Robert Sheldrake 20 are living in Coddenham, next door + 1 to my g,g,g-grandfather's sister, Mary Hobart! I am guessing that your Lydia Sheldrake is the one who married George Chappell in 1848?

From the Coddenham church records:
1822, December 22nd, baptism of Lydia, dau of John & Lydia Sheldrake, Coddenham, labourer.
1815, Dec 24th, baptism of Samuel, son of Samuel & Lydia Sheldrake, Coddenham, labourer [I think this may be a mistake by the clerk & the father should be John].
John Sheldrake, single man, married Lydia Chaplin, single woman, both of this parish, after banns, on 5 Nov 1812. Witnesses: Robert Chaplin & William Bullard [all except William signed "by mark"].
Baptism of Robert Chaplin, son of Robt. & Lydia (late Cream(?)/ Cozen(?)), born March 17, publicly baptised Mar 30,1788.
Baptism of Lydia Chaplin, dau of Robert Y Lydia, 16 Apr 1786.

Does this include Knoghts too?
I've got Isabella, James, Sarah and Sussaner (sic) and Harrient (nee Lusher) in the Harewood/Leiston area of Suffolk on the 1861 census. Do you have any links (or does anyone else?)
