Hi Haylierose
You need to purchase the marriage certificate - Queensland records at this time recorded the names of both parents of the bridal couple. You will also get the father's occupation and the bridal couple's birthplaces, ages etc.

i have their marriage certificate but the information for godharz rose is incorrect we think he made up his parents names and place of birth around the same time he changed his name im looking for information prior to him coming to austalia. all i know is he worked on ships since he left home at the age of 12 to be a cabin boy .

But WHY do you think he has lied, and changed his name? You also have to be careful relying on family stories handed down - sometimes they have a kernel of truth, other times the story gets mixed up completely over the generations.
It might be a good idea to tell the forum the parents names that he gave, and his birthplace, then someone might be able to tell you how to best go about finding out if in fact those parents did exist!
best wishes

By the way, there are some nationalities that do change their surnames with every generation, or even within the same families. I do not know much about it, just remember reading it somewhere. Again, once you tell us where he was supposed to come from, someone can advise.

Hi, here is a shipping list into Queensland, the rockhampton arrived on 17th June 1863, you should be able to get some records from this site, or further info as to where in Queensland the passenger list and crew list is!

yet he left home at 12 and spent most his time in the uk and on ships apparently
he didn't need to naturalize in australia thats why we know he had to be a british citizen

I know that this is a really long shot, but there is a goddard rose shown on the igi in sussex area of england in the 1600's! could be a family name.
Cant say as freebmd has thrown anything up as yet tho!

Did he own any property? as he only had to be naturalized if he wanted to do so.

Rockhampton. Wooden ship, 1065 ton. Built 1849. Sailing under the Black Ball flag, gained a most unsatisfactory reputation after having 29 deaths on a 116-day voyage from Liverpool to Keppel Bay (Queensland) in 1863, due to being ‘unsanitary and ill-ventilated .. and acts of immorality between the female passengers and crew’. After carrying immigrants to Queensland she transferred to the guano trade in 1867.

There was also a ship of this name arriving in Melbourne in the 1880s, but it must have been another one again!
