We have a family story saying that my husbands Grandfather was a Commandant of a POW camp in the UK during WW2. And in this camp, were members of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
Has anyone else heard of Berlin Symphony Orchestra members as POW's? Any suggestions on how to search the validity of this story?

I'm afraid the Berlin Symphony Orchestra wasn't formed until 1952 :( http://www.berliner-sinfonie-orchester.de/eng/
The Berlin Philharmonic was formed in 1862, but I can't find any reference to any members being prisoners of war in the UK.
If you do a Google search on German prisoners of war Britain, you'll come up with a lot of hits, but I think you would need to know which camp you were looking for, as there were rather a lot!
Best wishes

Thanks for your help. It is a family story and it's hard to know if it's true. If we can find his service number, we'll be fine!
Thanks for trying.
