Looking for evidences of this name in this area. Have traced a great-grandfather named George Christopher back to birth in Lumley around 1855, and learned his father, William was a policeman from George's 1877 marriage certificate. Would like to hear from anyone who has information on the Askews who lived in the general area. It seems there was a concentration of the name around Chester-le-Street.
Thanks in Advance for any and all responses.

Hi
I have George's 1881 and 1891 Census entries if you'd like a transcript.
What address did George marry from? Where did they marry? Ellen's surname? Was his father noted as deceased?
With a bit more information I may be able to find this Askew family in 1871 and 1861.

Many thanks for the 1871 census information on the family. I have only recently made contact with some "long-lost" Askew first cousins, who will be as delighted as I am to have this additional information. We can now push back another generation in the branch line.
There had been some speculation as to why my grandfather was named David Simmons Askew, and all I could come up with was that a David Simmons was married on the same day as George Christopher in 1877. His bride was an Ellen Davidson from Berwick, Northumberland, and I've already managed to get 1871 census data on her parents and siblings. She was also a Pupil teacher, so this would explain how they could have met.
I have the 1881 and 1891 census data, ( thanks for the offer) so I know George Christopher and Ellen both taught and lived at Escomb school. Didn't have the information on Sarah Parnaby Askew, but now I know she was still living I'll check 1881 again for the reference.
Thanks once again.

Are you researching this same family? You seem to have a lot of information on them!
If so, you can reach me on personal email at: pcplady@hotmail.com, rather than going through the forum each time!

I have been gathering up a little more information through the LDS/IGI submissions of transcribed parish records, and have some potential leads on Sarah Parnaby's family. I'm tending to concentrate on my "direct" lines right now, in an attempt to push back the timelines.
Thanks again for your help with the census data!
