1841 Census John Hill

Hi everyone - we have been away from this Forum for some time!
We are trying to trace John Hill, b North Huish c1821.
We have him living with wife Sarah in St Budeaux, Plympton St Mary in 1851. Sarah is shown as being born in Ugborough c1824, but their eldest child was only 7, so perhaps they were not married in 1841.
We don't have the 1861 details, but subsequent censuses all show similar details.
We are trying to link him to other Hills, for whom we have some details.

I'm afraid there are a lot of John Hills born in 1821 in Devon, and I can't find any particularly linked to North Huish or Ugborough.

I don't know if it's a red herring, but there is a John Hill living in Ugborough as a servant to a family in 1841, along with a Henry Hill doing the same thing. John is listed as 25 (but in 1841 I guess that could have been rounded up) and Henry 10. The family they seem to be with are George and Catherine Mitchell of Venn or Dunn (possibly a farm?) and their four daughters. No Sarah in sight.

As I say, this may be a red herring, but there are a lot of John Hills...

It will certainly go in the "possibles" file, as we suspect that John may not have been at home in 1841, and that his marriage to Sarah may have been later.

There is a marriage between a John Hill and a Sarah Lane registered Plympton St Mary in March 1843.

According to the Plymouth Marriage CD Vol 2, the marriage took place on 30 March 1843 at Harford which is near Ivybridge, here is the link to the GENUKI page http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Harford/

This is very relevant because John & Sarah's son, John, was born c1844, and on later censuses shows his place of birth as Harford.
Thank you very much - we may now have Sarah's surname!
