HAMMOND - Rock, Bayton & Powick

Maria HAMMONDS was baptised at Rock 23 Oct 1815 daughter of William Hammonds and Ann MORRIS. William was baptised at Bayton 11 Mar 1774 son of Thomas HAMMOND and Susannah. The Herefordshire marriage index suggests that Thomas HAMMOND of the parish of Powick married Susannah DREW of Ledbury at Ledbury 24 Jan 1774.
Maria married George Reynolds at Kidderminster 8 April 1841. Both George and Maria gave their residence as Wribenhall. The family settled in the Alveley/Romsley area in later years.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone with connections or information regarding these families.

Hello Jean

My partner Rob is descended from William Hammonds & Ann Morris. He is descended from their grandson John born 21/5/1849 Rock. John appears with the family on the 1851 & 1861 censuses. His mother is William & Ann's daughter Mary (I have his birth certificate - no father listed) who is on 1851 census but I cannot find thereafter.

I have bits and pieces of info on some of William & Ann's children, but cannot find others. They seem to be elusive on censuses! I have 2 sets of possible parents for Ann Morris.

I did not have Thomas & Susannah as William's parents, as William's age at marriage according to IGI & 1841 census says around 1779 which seemed a bit remote from the IGI bap date of 11/3/1774. Do you have other evidence to confirm?

I am interested in how you are descended from Maria Hammonds. Rob's maternal grandfather was William Edward Hammond, son of John Hammond b1849 above who married Sarah Maria Bamford.

Perhaps we can exchange information and hopefully fill in some gaps?
