I'm hoping someone with access to an image can please check the ages on this entry which I found transcribed on a web site.
1841 Census
Buckinghamshire HO107/59 (Film 8 - MK Library)
Part of Wavendon, listed as Hogstye End.

You didn't mention the surname - perhaps that was deliberate?

oops, thanks Lynda - it is CRUTE, down this time as CRUITE. I was thinking I should have added a clarification - it is young William's age that I am concerned about -should be abt 16, wondered it the 0 was actually a 6 :D

The image is really clear - it does look like a 10 to me. Normally the enumerators put ages in order, but this one doesn't seem to have bothered.
However, weren't the census pages derived from forms filled in by (or with) the householder? So that could have read 16 which was then copied on to the page as 10.
Census ages are often very dodgy anyway. I'll be 62 when our next one comes round. But if I put 52 on the form, who's going to know? (Or 22?)

I think you could be right - the enumerator might have misread a 16 for 10 from the householders form - else he should have put 15 anyhow. I've decided the rest of the family clinches it for me anyhow.
