I would like to find out where I was evacuated to (from London) in August of 1944 while my brother was being born. I was only 18 months old and sent to a nursery, or institution, in Rugby, Warwickshire, but that's as far as my Mum's memory goes. I was completely separated from my mother while she was sent to a maternity home called Stagenhoe in Herts. Does anyone know how to research the child nursery location in Rugby, as I don't know where to start? Thanks for any help.

I cannot give you a direct answer, but it would be worth contacting local studies libraries in the area to see if they know of any possibilities for where you lived during that time. This is the page for Rugby Library: http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/Web/corporate/pages.nsf/Links/F87FA2CA307673E780256A1B00510546
The following email address is to contact the local studies team in Warwickshire: librarylocalstudies@warwickshire.gov.uk (http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/web/corporate/webmailf.nsf/webmail?openform&librarylocalstudies@warwickshire.gov.uk). as listed at
http://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/Web/corporate/pages.nsf/Links/4BE36608EFA1FD8080256CE8003D9323
Hope this helps you get started,
Karen

Thanks very much Karen! I have just emailed the Rugby Library so hopefully I will have some luck. My Mum has always felt badly about this traumatic separation so we are both very interested to know more about it. Thanks again.
