My 3 x Great Grandfather was Samuel Briggs Ravell who was born in Suffolk in abt 1795. I believe it possible that his parents were Joseph Ravell & Sarah Briggs and that they married in Topcroft, Norfolk 13th October 1788, although Joseph was listed as Revell. I think that Samuel married Susannah (possibly Barker,although i have know actual proof) and they had 5 children, Emily b. 1817, Bungay, Suffolk, Susannah b. 1823, Great Yarmouth, Samuel Barker b. 1824, Great Yarmouth, Robert Barker (My Great Great Grandfather) b. 1827, Great Yarmouth & Sarah Ann b. 1832, Great Yarmouth. I have been able to follow all the children through with the exception of Samuel Barker who was a sailor, i have his naval ticket age abt. 22 but lost trace of him after that. Samuel Briggs was also a sailor but i cannot find any records for him not even a baptism record. He was shown as living in Bermondsey, London on the 1841 census with his children but no wife and was living again in Bermondsey on the 1851 census a few months before his death and his wife was Martha, but i cannot find any records for this marriage.
