Help re Emigration

Can anyone tell me how i can find out more about my ggg grandfather he came from germany (Preuben/Prussia) 1800's no idea when, he ended up in England Hull Yorkshire and married a yorshire lass in 1868 and im not sure how to go about this. Is he likley to be on passenger lists, going to US. How do i find which ships came to England. What is best way to go about this

try this http://www.saxonyroots.com/passenger_db/ it has ships leaving from german ports but best of all look under the last names and see if you can find him all you need is a last name
