I have lost my Carey family after 1841 census found two of them who died in Birkenhead perhaps the others are there.
I had posted this request in the Potteries forum and member Carrie could find nothingof the family. I have re posted and hope someone can help.

When Thomas Carey died it left Ellin his wife with all those kids so she possibly married again. I looked up the Free BMD and found 3 possibles for 1846 but member Carrie could not find them under those names either so who knows.

Marriages Jun 1846
Carey Ellen Stoke on Trent 17 216

Sheehan Barry Joseph Stoke on Trt 17 216

TATLER Elijah Stoke on T 17 216
VESSEY Thomas Watson Stoke on Trt 17 216

I have my Carey Family found in the 1841 census as :-
1841 census HO107/1003/13 folio 24 page 14 Wetley Abbey, Cheddleton, Staffordshire
[All surname Carey, all born in the county]
Thomas 48 Ind [of independent means]
Ellen 45
Thomas 18
Eliza 16
Ellen 15
Sarah 12
Mary 10
Henry 8
Annie 7
Richard 6
George 4

The Head/father Thomas died before the 1851 census and the son Thomas had married and was living in Worcestershire and his sister Sarah was visiting him on census day but I would hope to find Ellin and the kids not too far away from the 1841 location.

Found Richard's death on Free BMD
He was 6 in 1841 census. He died in Birkenhead

Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Mar 1863
CAREY Richard Sutton Harvey Birkenhead 8a 342
Is this near the Potteries???
Perhaps all the family went to Birkenhead.

Found yet another death George, he was 4 on the 1841 Census. Again in Birkenhead.
Surname First name(s) Age District Vol Page
Deaths Dec 1874
Carey George Harvey 33 Birkenhead 8a 378

Thankyou Julie,
There are still a few children missing from the picture, were none of them with her for either census?

I have found a marriage of an Ellen Carey in Stoke - the only problem is that it is a civil marriage so you will have to obtain the certificate

Staffordshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1846SurnameForename(s)SurnameForename(s)Church / Register OfficeRegisters AtReferenceCAREYEllenSHEEHANBarry JosephCivil Marriage (Stoke)Stoke-On-TrentSRO/01/072. Hope this helps.
