Marriage record for Sarah CARTMELL: 1891 Jul-Aug-Sep quarter, Whitehaven. Possible grooms are Biggins Johnstone CROSBY and John KENNEDY. [Reference: Volume 10b Page 931]
In the 1901 census, Biggins CROSBY has a wife named Sarah and daughters Mary C., Ellener, Sarah E., John and Robert H. They all live at 3 Correction Lane Peter St. in Whitehaven. [Reference: RG13/4862 Folio 132 Page 24]

Could this be Isaac and Catherine's marriage record?
1866 Oct-Nov-Dec quarter
-- Whitehaven, Cumberland
-- Isaac CARTMEL [sic]
-- Catherine EARLY [sic]
Reference: Volume 10b Page 863
The 1871 census shows no HURLEYs but there is a family named EARLY:
Census: 1871: RG10/5257 Folio 49 Page 11
Address: Harrisens Ct, Scotch St., Whitehaven, Cumberland
-- William EARLY Head Mar 36 Iron Miner [born] Ireland
-- Margaret -"- Wife Mar 34 [born] -"-
-- James -"- Son Unm 13 [born] -"-
-- Nancy -"- Daur -"- 11 [born] -"-
-- Matilda -"- Daur -"- 8 [born] -"-
-- Margaret -"- -"- -"- 5 [born] -"-
-- Joshua -"- -"- Son -"- 3 [born] Cumberland Whitehaven
-- William -"- -"- -"- 3 mo [born] -"-
There's another EARLY, a young girl named Mary Ann, 15 years old attending school in St. Bees Parish. She's probably an older daughter of William and Margaret. [Reference: RG10/5256 Folio 22 Page 37]
Perhaps Catherine's last name is really EARLY and William is her brother...

Is she Catherine and Isaac's daughter?
Just to clarify: Sarah BRAGG was on the same cargo ship as Isaac CARTMELL, sailing from Whitehaven to the Isle of Man in 1892. It floundered on rocks and both were killed? You have this information from family history handed down or from some other source?

Thought you might like to know about the Sarah Bragg. The Sarah Bragg was a brig. She was named for my GGG grandmother, Sarah Ann Bragg, daughter of Captain Joseph Bragg of Whitehaven (1793-1886). As far as I am aware there was no relationship between Isaac Bragg and Joseph, although as they are all Cumberland Braggs there is almost certainly a link somewhere. Joseph Bragg was a captain and ship owner. The Sarah Bragg was probably owned by both Joe Bragg and the Nuzum family of Dublin - Sarah married Thomas Nuzum, and the Nuzums shipped goods between Whitehaven, Dublin and the Isle of Man.

Hi
my GG Grandfather was Joseph Bragg Nuzum, I know that he was born in Ireland, I believe he is connected with shipping somehow given the surnames and that his son was William Henderson Nuzum.
Any info you have would be gratefully received!
