Domestic Servants

Would an afluent Jewish Family employ only servants of their own faith? I'm having trouble locating an indoor servant who was employed by a Jewish family of Grain Merchants in London in the 1920's.

I have heard that Jewish families had gentile (ie non jews) as servants. They did this as Jews are not allowed to do any work on the Sabbath, sadly this includes cooking. They would not have any problem with a gentile servant cooking their dinner though.
