Hi I am a halt and need some fresh input I think. I have William Spedding born approx 1792, i think in Carlisle, he dies in 1844 In Carlisle. In 1817 Dec 1 he marries Jane Noble from Wallby at St Cuthberts church Carlisle.
In the marriage reg it gives Janes fathers name, but not Williams. I am trying to locate Williams birth but with little luck, I tried IgI, there does not seem to be any record of a poss match. (unless its me). The records at Carlisle Library though comprehensive, are hard to read, for me anyway.

Can anyone give me a fresh slant on how to go about looking for William? Would really appreciate any help.
Thanks
Kate

Hello Kate - seems a long time since we were last in touch.

However I wondered if you had got any further with your William Spedding born in Carlisle C. 1792. I found the following in the 1841 census - the family were living in King's Arm Lane. Carlisle.

William Spedding age 45 Butcher
Janes Spedding age 40
John Spedding age 20
Ann Spedding age 15
Jane Spedding age 15
Sarah Spedding age 12
Rachel Spedding age 7
Edward Spedding age 3

All born in the County of Cumberland

Hope this is of use to you

Kind Regards
