Hello to all.
It's been a while since I tried to further my investigation into my Chapman genealogy. This site looks promising.
My lineage is posted on the PEI Island Register.
My particular JOHN CHAPMAN claims on his gravestone, that he was born in about 1816 in Cornwall, England (died May 10, 1903 in Murray Harbour, PEI Canada). He married MARGARET MILLAR on April 02, 1839. She was born about October 1807 in Ecclefechan, Dumfreese, Scotland, and died December 27, 1901 in Murray Harbour, PEI Canada.
Buried next to John and his wife is a man named Henry Chapman and his wife and child. I am only assuming (makes sense) that Henry and John immigrated together and may have been brothers. I can find no record of their passage to North America. I'm hoping that some Chapmans doing research in Cornwall are trying to find the burial sites of these two gentlemen in hopes that we can make a connection.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any ideas as to how I may go about this.

Thanks. I wouldn't even know what Parish records to order as the grave just says he was from Cornwall.
I just transcribe Cornish Baptisms and my complete list to date is here (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_1.html). I am happy to help with anything from my list, but do not have any other information, sorry.

That would be incredibly helpful. If you can point me in ANY direction, that would be better than where I am currently going; nowhere.
Thank you so much. |bowdown|
I only wish that I had known about my family's mistake about our first North American Chapman while I lived in England from 1995-1998.
I haven't noticed any BLIGH genealogy posted on this site. My family recently connected itself to Captain William Bligh's grandfather. I guess that would be good information to post here once we have it completed.

Thank you very much! That's less than I thought it would be, which is promising. Now I guess I just have to figure out which one is my connecion to Cornwall. I was looking through a bunch of passenger lists, and haven't found any record of John Chapman. His headstone records his date of death and age. But his age doesn't match census data on PEI, Canada.
I saw this one listed on another site:
JOHN CHAPMAN - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 07 APR 1811 Egloshayle, Cornwall, England
Father: John - Mother: Catharine
HENRY CHAPMAN - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 26 AUG 1818 Bodmin, Cornwall, England
Father: John - Mother: Catharine
I also found the John Chapman to Catharine Tucker marriage in a transcript (http://www.ukgenealogyarchives.org.uk/imageserve/25/9/93.png) of St Mabyn.
What do you think? Is there a document or documents I should order from that area that might have a record of the birth of John and Henry?
The dates are a little off from the John and Henry in PEI, but it does seem to be more than a coincidence.
Thank you again. I'll keep you posted.
Johnny

Thanks!
I was... I just got to thinking about his age the other day, and went back a wee bit more. I need to see if I can dig up the photo of his headstone in my files.

Hi Johnny,
I do not think this is your family as the John born 1811 to John Chapman and Catherine Tucker married twice and died in St Columb Major between 1881 and 1889. I have details if you need them though. I am interested to see you have found a Henry with parents John & Catherine too as I had not picked him up. All the other children of John & Catherine were christened in Egloshayle

Thanks Scottie
Even that data is helpful, as it points me in a different direction. I'm not even sure if the John and Henry in PEI are brothers.
If you do know of any John in this thread that did NOT die in the UK, please let me know.
Knowing that John (1811) died in the UK, does allow me to pursue a different John.
Thanks for the help.

I've posted my tree to Ancestry.com and have just sent in a DNA test. I hope I can connect my tree to Cornwall.

My DNA results are posted to FamilyTreeDNA. I have no idea where to put this info. on this site or the Parish Chest site.
Feel free to e-mail me.
