The Regimental casualty returns are held by TNA in WO25. The individual piece numbers can be found by using their online catalogue - e.g. enter casualty in the first field, restrict dates to eh war period and enter WO25 in the department or series code. The casualty returns include injured, desertions and discharged, as well as dead.
The Army Chaplains' Returns of Deaths 1797-1880 can be searched using the pay-per-view site 1837online.
I am aware that lots of photographs were taken during the war, but have not heard of all soldiers being photographed on their return.

Thanks for that sorry to show my ignorance what does TNA stand fore?.
I read in a history today (November 2004)the post office was selling the Crimean war stamps in the advertising it stated that Queen Victoria asked for all the returning soldiers to be photographed "so the country would not forget them"

Photographs of Crimean veterans are hit and miss and were not taken en masse.
If you cannot make it to the National Archives, Frank and Andrea Cook's "Casualty Roll for the Crimea" which lists all of the battle casualties that were listed in the London Gazette at the time . . . . the book is available from various online booksellers.
