I've used my hotmail address for genealogy for a number of years now. I liked the idea of opening my e-mail program and having floods of mail (from people I don't really know) all about my obsession, genealogy! I wasn't sure about the forums. I was a guest the day that you announced them but didn't register until now, because I thought it would be too much trouble!

And why have I given in? You threatened me ;-)

I already felt 'out of the loop' when I found out about the 1871 Cornwall census being released from the Cornwall mail list. Usually I read these things on the ACDB mailist. Now you threaten that the updates won't be sent to my e-mail but posted only on the forums. I'm already behind on orders because I didn't know about the 1841 Essex! So I've succumbed.

It isn't half as bad as I thought. I figured out how to subscribe to my areas of interest, individual threads, and to be advised of new posting by e-mail. Very user friendly! I must say I'm impressed!

This is my first post, I expect to be a full member soon! Even have a little resizing job for my avatar! (Until now I didn't know what one was.) So may I say "Keep up the great work!"

Cheers

Well, you must have got something right - 6 threads on the Hertfordshire site so far, and I'd received nothing for nearly 6 months on the old system. (And we never saw your Special Offers, Rod :p )

The great thing is that members can see all of the chat that's going on.

Although my "main line" is Hertfordshire based, like most members my roots go out to most of England at least.

I manage to get some of the things right some of the time ;)

At the start of last weekend, there were less than 250 members here. and there are now a few short of 2,000 (I wonder who will be member #2000 - tonight?).

Come to think of it... I wonder who will be #10,000 or even 100,000?
Go spread the news that we are here.... we have only just begun, but it is certainly taking off very well indeed. :)

Regards
Rod

Yes, I concede, I'm the winner! I'll feel like more of a winner when my 1871 Cornwall arrives!
