My g-grandfather, Irvin Hurst, was b1833 Whitehaven, to Henry Hurst(b1808 Flimby) and Sarah Swift bc1802. Henry's parents were Lawrence Hurst and Jane Irving. Sarah's parents were James Swift of Gt Yarmouth and Sarah Woodburn. Various members of these families lived in Whitehaven and Maryport.
Irvin was a shipwright who emigrated to New Zealand 1860s and married an Irish girl, Elizabeth Coote.

Or are you trying to fill in gaps -- perhaps with BMD records or census details? Or do you wish to find someone else who may be connected to your family?

Trish

Hi Trish, I have had trouble finding the origins of James Swift. According to his marriage entry he was from Gt Yarmouth but I don't know why he went all the way to Whitehaven, or when.
I would love to exchange info. with other descendants.
