Hello
I wonder if anyone can help. I am looking for a marriage of Robert Jones b Batheaston approx 1818 to Mary Ann Brewer b. Timberscombe about 1816. I have the birth certificate of their son William Robert Brewer Jones, my 2x Great Grandfather, and according to the 1861 census, they had children born from about 1850 to 1856. In the 1851 census, they were living in Upper East Hayes Lodge, Walcot with 9 month old William Robert Brewer and Mary Ann's mother - aged 72 b Minehead. I have searched the Bath BMD site and had a pretty thorough look through 1837online, but I haven't found anything.
I am also planning a visit to the Taunton office to trace the family back. I gather I have to book, but has anyone any advice?
Many thanks
Ann

Can't help with the marriage, but Mary Ann Brewer baptised Timberscombe 4 Nov 1815 daughter of Thomas (occ. carpenter) and Sarah. Other children baptised at Timberscombe; Hannah(20 May 1804) Thomas(13 Nov 1808) James(6 Jan 1811) Jane (2 May 1813- buried 14 Feb 1821 aged 8) Robert (8 Feb 1818) William (8 Oct 1820) John (22 June 1823) Charlotte (12 Mar 1826) .There was a James son of Thomas and Sarah buried 8 Feb 1809, no age given so I don't know if this was another child of theirs. Can't see the marriage of Thomas and Sarah, so don't know her maiden name. This info from TL Stoate's transcriptions. Hope this helps.

Dear Helen
Thank you so much for this information. I am not familiar with TL Stoate's transcriptions. Is this something I could find in the Taunton Records Office, or I could get hold of somehow?
Best wishes
Ann

Hi Ann, Glad to be of help. You can buy the books from the Somerset and Dorset FHS (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_2147.html) amongst other places. You may be able to borrow them from your local library-they have them at Minehead library. They are anly transcriptions, but at least it gives you a starting place when you get to the records office. One tip-take a packed lunch, there's nowhere within walking distance to get food! I think they have a drinks machine though(didn't use it but I think I heard that).

Best wishes, Helen
