I've just been looking at a page of the 1851 census from Bacup. There are three households listed on the page, and in each one, the head of the household has the Christian name James.
That could cause some confusion!!
I looked to see if there were any children named for their fathers. One certainly is. I can't tell with the others as the enumerator has only referred to half of the children by their initials!!!!
