Hi all,

I am a new Australian member to your great forum. I have a Benjamin French in my family whom I have been unable to find any information on before emigrating to Australia. His death certificate mentions that he was born in Buckinghamshire around 1833. He was married in Australia in 1866 and I assume that he arrived close to that time.
His first born son was William, if that helps?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tammie

Hi Tammie

I found two Benjamin French on the 1851 Census for Bucks. One was 60 so obviously too old to be yours, however, the other one sounds promising.

That does sound like it could be my Benjamin French. The age of the Benjamin listed on the census match my records fairly closely. Thanks for that! I have been searching for Benjamin's immigration record to Australia and as yet have had no luck, if I can find that I will also gain an age that I can use that to compare to the information you have given me.
I'll keep searching!

Thanks,

Tammie
