I have several RN Service Records and while most of the info. is easy to understand, I do have several queries. Any help would be much appreciated.
i. Under the entry Age, what does F(?)E mean?
ii. Under Remarks what do entries such as " 10/- Grat for raisg V(?) 66 D of Welln I 00" and "10/- Grat for raising V48 Victory I May" mean? I take it that Grat is short for Gratuity and "D of Welln" and Victory are the ships.

The time period is around 1895-1905.

I've been racking my brains (didn't take long) and searching books for this. I'm afraid the best I can come up with is a vague memory of being told many moons ago that this was to do with manning the masts (which would cause nightmares to health and safety officals these days)

Grat = gratuity
I'm sure I've got a photo of Duke of Wellington and Victory in Portmsouth harbour somewhere, the trick is remembering which book.
