I have just discovered that my husbands great, great grandfather was born in Ruthin Denbighshire as were his 3x great grandparents after finding them on 1891 and 1881 census living in Morth Meols, Lanc. but I haven't found them any earlier than this yet.
Thomas Hughes b 1827 Ruthin, gen lab (3g grandfather)
William Hughes b 1855 Ruthin cab driver (2g grandfather)
Sarah Hughes b 1857 Ruthin dress maker (daughter of Thomas snr)
Isabella b 1855 scotland or chester (williams wife)
chidren Thomas (g grandfather) b 1878 Southport
Annie, william, harry and sarah all born Southport.

Thomas snr wife not presant on 1881 but is Elizabeth b Ruthin on 1891

Where is Ruthin and which registration district whould it be under?

Hi, I have a Hughes branch in my family tree. Same area of Wales (Denbigh - Ruthin area). I haven't got the info with me, but I'll check when I get home. The main branch that I'm descended from is the Wynne family in Wales. If I do have some of your Hughes names, I will post again.

After a trip to Ruthin Records Office still no wiser, they were chaple so no records and another branch of the family say we are decended from Hugh Hughes and we did find one on the 1841 census with a son Thomas of about the same age, Why are things never simple!!!!
