Can any one help? Searching for descendants of siblings and ancestors of Samuel George Willmott was born in Camberley, Surrey and married Charlotte Lovegrove (aka Lottie – born C1860 Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire). It’s thought they had 12 children, but I only have the names of 10, James (born C1884 Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire), Margaret (born C1886 Sandhurst, Berkshire), John (born C1887), Joel (born C1890 Sandhurst, Berkshire), May (C1899), Kit, Patricia, Joseph, George Samuel (aka Samuel George born 1897, Ash, Surrey – my grandfather) and Violet (aka Queenie or Betty - born 1900 Aldershot, Hampshire).
Great grandfather Samuel is thought have been in the Hampshire Regiment or the Royal Army Medical Corps pre WWI. On my grandfather George’s birth certificate it states father deceased and yet he has 2 younger sisters. I have seen Violets birth certificate and fathers name is given as James Willmott.
I have been told Samuel served in India, Malta and may have deserted the family to serve in a Tasmanian Regiment. If he did, he must have returned because Violet son has told me she frequently talked about her father. There are all sorts of questions. Were James and Samuel the same person or not?
Of Samuel’s children Margaret married Jack and had a daughter called Lass and they lived in the Aldershot/Ash area. John was in 2nd Bn Worcestershire Regiment and died 1914 France. His widow Alice Elizabeth later married a Dunning and lived in Chepstow. May married George Cutts and her children were Stella, David, Carol and another son. They lived in the East End of London, possibly Plaistow. Patricia died in the early 1900’s of Scarlet Fever. Kit married. Violet married Oliver Charles Dipper and they had 6 children between 1921 and 1941.
