This is a link to Durham County Council:

http://www.durham.gov.uk/DurhamCC/usp.nsf/pws/Registrar+-+purchase+of+registration+certificates

If you scroll to the bottom of the page and click Search the Indexes, fill in the name boxes, years and type of certificate ...... with the Marriage Certificates search, you can find the name of the spouse.

A bonus if you know that your male Ancestor married an Emma, but don't know her maiden name and you don't particularly want to purchase the certificate. ;)

I have also ordered certs direct from this site ...... they arrived about three days later. :)

I have used them too, very good.

Also showing Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Guisborough, Darlington

http://www.middlesbrough-indexes.co.uk/index.php
is very good and you can ask questions if you are not certain if it's the right certificate. It also shows spouses names.
Jo:)

Hi Dorothy,

It must just be a blip at the moment. I tried it on the link and what I have saved and neither worked. I have never had problems other wise. Try again when you time because it is normaly very good.
I'm sure Diane will say the same.

Go to www.genuki.org.uk and then to the England page and choose Durham. at the top of the page is a link to parishes. If you're lucky there will be a link to the local parish church and possibly to marriages from the George Bell collection. I've found a few of my rellies there!

Hi Helen

The marriage is on the IGI 27 April 1793 Parish Church of Jarrow (St Pauls I think). Durham Record Office may provide transcriptions or copies of the register.

I just tried looking up some data, could not get anywhere, even tried facts that I knew, turns out, WindowsXP operators are having a problem being able to look-up, but they are working on it
