On my g-g-grandfather's grave in Buckingham churchyard (William Partridge d 22nd May 1845, it says that his widow ELIZABETH died at Washington, Texas on 6th August 1851 in her 68th year.

No record of her death or burial hass been found in the records of Washington County and I wonder whether she may have re-married and appear under another name.

Can SKS please check for me whether the death or burial of any ELIZABETH born in England about 1783 is recorded? I should be very grateful.

Sincerely, FredP.

Fred,

There is a death record for an Elizabeth PARTRIDGE in the September quarter of 1851 in Potterspury, Buckinghamshire. Northamptonshire. No age given. Reference is Volume 15, Page 2 [58].

Trish

Reference is Volume 15, Page 2 [58].

Just in case FredP is confused by this, it might be worth adding that the entry actually reads 2_[58] which from memory means 2 then something or other and then either a 5 or an 8.

Whatever, it needs to be checked from the GRO index.

Thanks, Peter. Apologies for the oversight.

Fred, for what it's worth, there's also the following marriage record:

PARTRIDGE, Elizabeth, June quarter of 1845, Henley, Buckinghamshire Bershire, Oxfordshire. Reference is Volume 16, Page 127.

Potential grooms were Sylvanus JARVIS and Thomas PLUMRIDGE.

Not a very viable possibility, I would say, since the date places it at about the same time as -- or maybe even before -- your g-g-grandfather's death.

Potterspury is certainly nearer to Buckingham than is Henley! Whether that's relevant or not only Fred knows.

Thanks Trish, Peter.

I will bear what you say in mind. The monument definitely says that she died in Texas, also that it was erected by her affectionate sons.

Actually one pre-deceased her by about 15 months, while another seems to have left no trace ( I assumed he also went to Texas). The third reesided in Aylesbury and did not die until the 1880s.
