My G G aunt Harriet Stuckey went to S Africa sometime in the early 1900s. She went, according to family information, "with a man" and at some time had a son who died and was buried at sea either on the outward or return journey. The "man" was apparently involved in the gold and/or diamond trade and was reputedly a brutish sort of character. harriet returned at some time ,unmarried ,to become a companion to a lady in Birmingham where she was killed in a bombing raid in 1941.
How can I find out more about her adventure to S Africa.

Hello ppod

After searching high and low for someone i eventually learned she went to South Africa at a similar time as yours. I knew all about the life up to to a certain point just didnt know what their outcome was. All i had was who she married. So i mailed
http://home.global.co.za/~mercon/researchers.htm and within i would say 15 mins she got back to me with basic information which was like gold to me as it enabled me to move on.
My ones also were involved in the Diamond trade and lived on a Diamond Mine.
Maybe worth a try ?

Good luck

Tracey
