Hi Everyone, I would love to purchase some of those great CDs that are on offer. Trouble is I dont know which ones to purchase. I am researching my families who all resided in Nottinghamshire. At the moment I am back to the early and mid 1800s. I have the 1851 census which is very useful. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Lizz.

Can I suggest the Nottinghamshire Marriage Licences and the Phillimore Marriages ? You will probably find both extremely useful for the marriages pre 1837 General Registration. The 1841 Census used in conjunction with the '51 you already have may also be useful.
Noy all parishes are covered in Phillimore, but the Licences are for the whole county and frequently give more information than can be found in the registers.
Would you like to tell us the names you are researching ?

As Eileen says, The Notts Marriage Licenses and Phillimores and the 1841 census are highly useful, particularly if you are not too close to any of the Nottinghamshire libraries with local studies sections, as they can help you plan work before you visit.
The 1861 census is another good purchase. I have found that following family members through the censuses can be a great help in many ways. Some people are not always accurate about when or where they were born, change occupation etc, and the extra information does give a lot of clues, including tying different family members together. Older members of the family can be found living with their children or grandchildren.

1760-1832 have been recommended recently on another thread for general background information.
I only ordered mine last night (my second order under this offer - the title intrigued me so much and I hadn't some across it before).
Please consider sharing the names you are researching.

Hi All, Thankyou for that info. When I get a chance tonight I will go back to look some more at those CDs. I live in New Zealand so I am not near any libraries etc, hence my reason for asking for advice. It is hard to know what to order and I obiviously want something that is going to give me lots of information. The names I am researching are Stapleton, Handley, and Hopewell. At the moment I am concentrating on Stapleton. Thanks once again and I hope it is not too cold in old Blighty. Lizz

And just in case you were not aware, you can order most of the CDs in the catalogue from the Australian branch of Archives CD Books (http://www.parishchest.com/en-gb/dept_3270.html). Shipping will be probably be cheaper & faster.
