Hi
I am trying to trace Job Taylor, born 1823? living in Mead St. Street, Somerset in the 1881 census. The census states he was born Corscombe, Dorset. We think his wife Mary was possibly nee Vincent born 1833 or 1836 in Kennford Devon. I cannot seem to trace him back to Corscombe. His children were born Compton Dundon 1873, Hardington Manderville 1866-68 both Somerset. His son Charles is on the 1871 census born 1866. We think there might be a link to a Thomas Taylor born 1792? in Corscombe. If anybody could help trace him back and possibly find his family and addresses it would be appreciated.
In hope kindest regards Nic

Hi Nic,
On my family tree there is a Job Taylor who was born on 1 Sept 1820 in Corscombe Dorset. I have his siblings, parents and grandparents. Job's brother John had a son named Job (who is my great grandfather). So my great grandfather was named after his uncle job (your relation).

Hi Nic,
My name is Doug Taylor and I am the great-grandson of Job Taylor, born 1842. My cousin Gil told me about your inquiries concerning Job Taylor. I visited the archives in Dorchester, Dorset twice and on my second visit researched family history for one week. There are two other Job Taylors on my charts - Job (born 1851, who married Jane Parsons) and Job (born 1821). In Corscombe I was able to locate the exact location of the cottage of Thomas Taylor (who married Elizabeth Frampton), from an old tithe map, and photographed the spot. I was also given information by a distant relative who lives in Sussex, that Thomas Taylor's parents were Thomas (born1720) and Anne. They were married about 1743. However, when I requested information on the source of this data, I never received a reply. I am now in the process of tracing this information. I hope this is helpful to you. If you wish more information, please contact me.

Hi,
I've just seen your message about Job Taylor. He is part of my husband's tree. This is what we have so far.
He was born in Corscombe and baptised on 3 Sept 1820. He married Dinah Ingram in 1845 in Somerset. They had 3 children - Emily b. 1847, Hugh b.1849 and John b.1850. After Dinah died he married Mary who was born 1833 in Kennford, Devon, and they had 6 children - Charles b. 1866, Thomas b.1868, Job b.1869, Albert Babb (my husband's g.grandfather) b.1872, Ernest Alfred b. 1875 and Mary Annie b.1875. Dinah died in May 1851, and Emily died 2 months later aged 4.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for the information you posted. The information on Job Taylor, born in 1820, was new to me. I had his name and birth date on the family chart, but did not previously know the names of his wife or children.
I am related to Job's brother John, born in 1816. I can provide names and dates for three previous generation prior to your Job (b. 1820), back to a marriage in 1745. Please inform me if this information would be helpful. You may already have it.
Again, thanks for the information.
Sincerely,
Doug Taylor
