  1. Post Invisible Uncle

Family belief is that my uncle Leonard Melville Beavis was killed whilst training at RAF Duxford in Dec 1937. There is a photo of him in RAF uniform. His death was recorded at Royston Herts, but military records yield nothing at all. How can this be?

  9. Mentioned in despatches - Why?

My father-in-law was mentioned in despatches after the bombing of Biggin Hill during the Battle of Britain. At this time he was ground crew. Does anyone know if there tends to be more information in the squadron records as to why he got this mention? Or how I may find more details?
