  2. Age of surviving WW2 POWs

    Hi. I am trying to find out if my father is one of the oldest WW2 POWs as he will be 100 years old next month. He was in the RAF and spent time in Stalag Luff 3.     I can't find my dad's record in the Forces War Record but know he served in RAF during WWII - I've tried advance search but nothing comes up - he carried on serving until 1968. His name was William Lewis Barton and he ended up as a Chief Tech. Can anyone advise please?

    Family belief is that my uncle Leonard Melville Beavis was killed whilst training at RAF Duxford in Dec 1937. There is a photo of him in RAF uniform. His death was recorded at Royston Herts, but military records yield nothing at all. How can this be?
