Death Certificates

English and Welsh death certificates do not contain as much information as Scottish ones, which also list full details of the parents, including the maiden name of the mother. Nevertheless, English death certificates can be extremely useful, and they are also interesting because they give details of the cause of death. English and Welsh death certificates list:

  • Name
  • Date and place of death
  • Sex
  • Age
  • Occupation
  • Cause of death
  • Details of informant (often a relative with relationship stated)
