Pam's Prattle - 6th. September
Written by Pam Drake

I was delighted on Sunday morning to see membership of  Brit-Gen top the 31,000 mark.  It certainly is a very popular forum and I am extremely fortunate to have a great team of moderators looking after it.  It is also great to see so many people taking advantage of all the information and the free downloads available from this, our main site.

It has been a busy week for me updating the products for sale at Parish Chest. New transcriptions of parish registers and MI's etc., covering various parts of the country.  Why not take a peek?

Oh, and I must tell you that L&J Research are planning to reduce most of their marriage disks to just £1 each.  How about that for a bargain?  I know Jennie is planning to drop the prices very soon, so make sure you keep an eye on her stand.

Not too long to wait now for the Bristol & Avon FHS Open Day. This is always an interesting event, so if at all possible, do please try and pop along.

Last week, I was in desperate need of a new chest freezer (too much baking!).  All the local suppliers said they would take seven to ten days to get the freezer to me, but I couldn't wait that long.  I had almost given up hope when online, I found, Appliances Online.  They were offerng next day delivery, and although, despite their promises, I had my doubts about this, I placed my order late on Saturday afternoon.  Yesterday, (Sunday, late morning) the freezer was delivered, installed in my barn and all packaging removed.  How about that for excellent service, and guess who I will buy from the next time I need electrical goods?

I went to have a nose around an auction at Hugus, Threemilestone (Truro) on Sarurday morning.  I was hoping to buy a few more chicken houses, but no luck, I'm afraid.  I believe that Frank was quite pleased that I was unsuccessful in my quest, as no more chicken houses means no more chickens!

It is tipping down with rain today, so it will be a day for minimal work outside and catching up on paperwork in the office.  I am not good with being indoors and keeping my butt in a chair, but you never know, if I stay in the office long enough, I may even find my desk again!
